Benjamin Franklin Commemorative “Founding Father” Silver Dollar Coin
Each coin is limited to a maximum mintage of 250,000 across all product options and may be issued only during the one-year period beginning January 1, 2006.
Recipient Organization: Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary Commission
Surcharges from the program are authorized to be paid to the Franklin Institute for purposes of the Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary Commission, a non-profit alliance established by Congress to commemorate the tercentenary and to educate the public about Franklin’s legacy.
Commemorative coin programs are created by acts of Congress to honor a person, place, or event. Surcharges from the sales of these coins help fund a variety of organizations and projects that benefit the public. Commemorative coins are only available from the United States Mint for a limited time, as specified by public law.
